Some of the construction crew continue to work on 4, still framing. Meanwhile, others have begun to work on the fifth floor. When they took their morning coffee break I took a peek up there. Part of the barricade they erected around the hole in the floor has now been removed. The concrete used to fill the hole looks completely dry, so the electricians should be able to begin taking down the recessed lighting over the hole. Several of the workers began to rip up the carpeting on 5. The worker named Scruffy told me that "tearing up that carpet is a beast" - apparently too much adhesive was used when the carpet was installed on 5, and now instead of pulling it up in wide swaths and rolling it up (the method used on the 4th floor) they're having to laboriously scrape it off in narrow strips.
The construction crew takes a well-deserved
coffee break outside Barco
